My game I'm going to make when I start my coding course will be so fun, I hope lots of people play it and enjoy it, in theory my game will have every aspect in this video, except I will never add transferring of items from player to player due to duping

Hey! I just wanted to say that this was a really good take on psychology in the game world, and makes me think about aspects of game design that I haven't considered. I am creating a document for myself, as I am currently self teaching game development, and I have added your video as a reference in my study. So thank you very much! I just wanted to say one thing, 06:23 I can't help but disagree with "no amount of features will make it fun". I was thinking of guitar hero (beat saber or OSU), one of the (previously) most popular music emulation games out there. I just can't imagine the game being even remotely fun without the music. Perhaps you are onto something though, it's probably more accurate to say something along the lines of "no amount of features outside the concepts that make games fun, will add more fun to the game" Guitar hero uses the music in the game to turn the simple task of pressing a button on a stick in accordance to buttons sliding on a platform, into a visceral response. You feel and hear the music being played when you hit the right notes, and when you mess it up, you hear the god awful guitar thud through the speaker. With that being said, this was a well put together video, and has really provoked a new train of thought for me. I look forward to checking out your other content. You gained a subscriber!

What a fantastic video :D I graduated from the University of Sheffield, in a completely unrelated subject. I'm now making a respectable living with a great remote job, but have always dreamt of being part of the 'Gaming Industry'. Fortunately for me, there's a large studio (Sumo Sheffield) located very close to me, and I do have a friend on the inside. Now it's a matter of proving my worth and building a portfolio. Do you have any tips for transitioning from BluePrints to C++? I have very little coding experience, and am aware how important this skill is.

For the grading system you applied to your skills on your portfolio website. How did you decide on the values? Like did you pick something you knew you were confident at, and pick something you weren't really confident at, and set those extreme values and then just kinda guess where everything else fell in-between? Also! How did you build your actual portfolio website?

I am currently creating a game via a discord bot My game is a modified version of rock paper scissors with more options and other crazy cards I started creating it 2 days ago Now I awnser the questions: 1. You need to think about what your opponent(s) play and therefore play your best choice 2. I think adding more cards to the game and playing it every now and then with your friends. Exploring what every card can do one by one 3. When I run out of ideas for cards to make or if it feels too repetetive for a player

"The best test of game's fun is to play with no graphics, music, sfx and story." I have been saying for years rdr2 is boring. It's all just graphics and story with simple and boring gameplay.

Good video! 1. What is the core lesson your game teaches? Placement and combination of words, as you don't actually place the words. 2. How does your game keep itself interesting? Cool Mechanics, which differs way too much from Scrabble. That's why every game is different and unpredictable. 3. At what point will your game get boring? When the competetive and ranking system gets too little competition. This game is relying on players, not single player. If there aren't any competetive players, there's no reason to achieve a high rank.

Your email "subscription" ended up in my spam mail, right next to the Viagra pills spam. Is using tricks to convert "kit" also taught in the course? I'm not saying this is useless, but you sure don't "share everything you learned in this video". You use sunk cost fallacy to manipulate people into becoming your audience. FOMO too, as I have no idea what you could actually be sharing until I subscribe.

The certificate at the end got me a job at a AAA game studio. He rejected me initially but as I was walking out of the interview, he stopped me and said "hey...how fast did you learn Niagara?" I said "it only took me 300 seconds" then I showed him this certificate. When he saw it, he was blown away and hired me on the spot. Now I'm literally swimming in money because I'm so rich from my role as a Niagara VFX artist. i'm never going back to the ghetto again thanks to this video. I'm about to buy solid gold salt and pepper shakers for my kitchen.

Learn something everyday - NO Matter what you do in life (and then teach it to others). After 40+ years of purposely doing this - I get a big heartfelt grin inside when I hear others doing the same. It is a fantastic way to live. And remember, Attitude is and always will be the number 1 maker or breaker of ALL you do. Good luck to you all! (but seriously - you don't need luck if you have a good attitude).

With today's age of unreal engine 5 AAA quality out of the box its easy to make a stunning scene and call it a game, however the actual game is usually a secondary issue, players find themselves watching a narrative or enjoying the world more and its becoming more common to be more at awe at the look of yhe game then any game mechanics or anything like that... However as a gamedev with a low end machine im forced to look beyond the realism and focus on the nitty gritty mechanics of the game, sometimes way before any art is applied...and to be honest its very difficult to work on a project that looks really amateur and its been proven that players much like foodies eat with thier eyes first and foremost and if your game has the visual quality of a prototype then regardless of the mechanics or gameplay its not going to get yhe attention it deserves.
